My little bro asked for my help once he was back from college to check-out these 2 flash-drives that’s infected by a so-called “turned-my-folders-into-shortcuts-virus”. First thought that came into my mind was – Flash Disinfectant! (which didn’t work in the end, old solution for an old virus) And I agreed to look into it once I finished with my movie since I’ve thought of the solution!
Google – Download. It’s what people do nowadays (tech-savvy ones of course) to solve whatever problem life throws them. G-O-O-G-L-E is your B-E-S-T friend, I tell people every time they asked to be spoon-fed. Anyways Flash Disinfectant was a very old tool used to clean up malwares and common flash-drive errors during the “old days”. I over-estimated its ability to cross-over to this era (with hackers being so hardworking nowadays to earn $$$, “era” in
terms of virus’s halve year can be as fast as O-N-E day!)
So I continued G-O-O-G-L-I-N-G. Talking to it as my best friend, owh gaining knowledge is so much easier nowadays. *POP* alas a solution came by for this “turned-my-folders-into-shortcuts-virus”.
The secret weapon
attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*
to be typed in the OS’s command prompt with “g” being the drive’s alphabet.
And there you go, I solved a problem that affected (according to my brother) LOTS of students in his college due to poorly maintenance computers. Well, this is for those who like to be spoon-fed, and those who’re not tech savvy enough to know what is what. Hope this helps…
And there it is, once again, the little triumph of victory against a pathetic virus named the “turned-my-folders-into-shortcuts-virus”
AWESOME!
